MASK CONSTRUCTION

(Children may need an adult to assist them and make sure that scissors are used safely.)

1. First download the patterns and instructions
download the mask images here
open print friendly instructions window here

2. Print the pictures on to standard A4 thick photo paper or on to standard paper (Making sure the images are set to A4 size. If you print to standard paper, glue the print outs onto thin card so the mask will have some stiffness.

3. Cut the mask out as indicated, including the antenna.

4. Cut the holes for the eyes, and holes to allow the antenna through later. Pierce the sides marked with an X if you wish to attach elastic for hands free use! If the paper or card is not stiff enough, stick more layers around the holes to reinforce it. You may want to cut a slit following the nose shape of the mask to give your nose a bit of room in the mask!

5. Fold all tabs and top.

6. Stick the sides to the front of the mask using the tabs. Then stick the top tabs to the sides You now have the head of the mask. (Use glue or sticky tape.)

7. Feed the antenna through the slits in the top of the mask so the tabs are inside. Stick the tabs inside and bend the antenna into position.

8. If you have elastic to help hold your mask on, then tie a knot at one end of the elastic and thread through one of the X holes you have created. Leave enough elastic to let you tie the other end of this to the other side of the mask. Always have too much elastic to start with as you can always make the elastic shorter.

ROBOT VOICE

Simply hold a comb and a piece of paper together so that the paper edge is in line with the comb. Hold the paper on the comb so that your fingers are on each end of it and so the paper can vibrate with the comb teeth. Hold the comb to your mouth and talk like a robot.
You are Hans the Robot!
